I got this patio umbrella in February to retire my 10FT beige colored one. I didn’t use it till yesterday when I needed to repot some plants outside of my house. It was a pretty good experience to do some potting job under it on my backyard patio.
This 11FT offset cantilever umbrella is easy to install and operate. It provides a large shaded area, and allows me to stay cool in my backyard. I like the two-handle design (the upper handle opens and closes the umbrella; the lower one does 360-degree rotation. Compared to my old 10FT umbrella, the canopy of the new one can be easily changed with just one hand. The canopy is waterproof and UV resistant.
The cross-metal base can be further secured. I bought four pieces of 16’’x16’’concrete step stone from Home Depot and they fit nicely into the cross-base of the umbrella.
I’m very happy with the umbrella and strongly recommend it.
Received product very quickly after getting a great deal on Prime Day. Well packed with no damage. Jsut set it up so I'll update review if any issues present themselves later. After researching these products extensively, I decided on this model based on how structurally strong it appeared, and after receiving it, this seemed to be confirmed. No other models in this price range seemed to have this kind of quality. Features I particularly like about this model are:
1. Oval pole for added stability. The pole also has notches every inch or so to secure handle at desired height rather than rely on a less secure friction device. Handle is very easy to raise and lower.
2. Beefed up cranking mechanism to raise and lower umbrella. This is most likely point of failure for any umbrella, so this gives me a bit more comfort that this one is built to last.
3. Second crank to rotate the umbrella. As the sun moves I will need to rotate umbrella to keep patio table completely in shade. Having the crank makes this much easier.
4. I mounted included base directly to my deck so I appreciated that base weights we sold separately so I didn't have to pay for something I didn't need.
5. Product came with offer for free extra canopy fabric. If this comes as a complete canopy, this is a great deal, as these will invariably fade over time no matter how good the fabric is.
Areas for improvement are:
1. No LED lights. This is becoming an inexpensive feature that should become standard in future model updates.
2. Slight rotation of pole in breezy conditions. Perhaps this is due to rotation option above so its a small sacrifice to make for that option.
This BLUU 11 FT Patio Umbrella is really great quality. The umbrella material is thick. The aqua blue color is really vibrant. The base and pole are heavy duty. There is no cheap plastic here. The umbrella comes packaged securely. It is easy to set up and even easier to operate. I only set it up temporarily because we do not have a weighted base at this point in time. When I set it up permanently and have the weighted base, I will take more photos. I am so happy to have this umbrella. It is so useful. I love that you can turn it 360° and you can angle it. I love the ease of use. I love how it looks. If you are looking for the best umbrella for your patio, this would be it!
Our deck is relatively big 15*24 ft. During summer, it’s covered with full sunlight starting from early morning. With a good coverage umbrella, we can spend lots of time on the deck enjoying sunshine and the small forest in our backyard. Our old umbrellas from Homedepot was broken bc the fabric weathered away in a couple of years. I invested this more expensive one for this summer.
I put this up only a couple of weeks. At this time in northeast, it has gone through snow, rain, and strong wind so I can just tell the fabric is much thicker and should last for a long time. The aluminum pole is strong and pretty sturdy.
it’s a piece of cake to assemble by myself, though note that I'm tall and strong. The biggest problem, in fact, was getting the box through the house and onto the deck, because it was so long and awkward.
The included tools were adequate for the few bolts that needed to be put in and tightened. Mentioning this because the tools included with some items are not suitable.
Once it was all together, the umbrella goes up and moves around effortlessly.
We have a lot of wind coming across our deck so I'll definitely need to either put weights on the legs or screw the legs to the deck. You might not need to do so, depending on your location.
I think I'd prefer for the handles to be held on with bolts rather than by spring-loaded ball bearings. That's my only suggestion for improving the design or manufacture.
